Benefits of Elderberries

Elderberries are small, dark purple berries that come from the elder tree. The species of elderberry grown in the USA is Sambucus canadensis. Currently most of the elderberries consumed in the US are imported as dried berries from Europe.

Elderberries from our farm are grown using organic and sustainable farming practices on our farmland near Ottertail, Minnesota. Elderberries are used in traditional medicine, cooking, and drinks. The elderflowers and elderberries are rich in antioxidants, including phenolic acids, flavanols, and anthocyanins, which contribute to their health benefits.

The berries also can help decrease inflammation, as they have anti-inflammatory effects. You may find elderberry products in many different forms, such as syrups, dried berries, teas, capsules/gummies, wines/liqueurs, and jams.
